Job Posting Summary

The PACT Counselor will provide a variety of highly integrated services and programs to support academic success, student development, college transition, leadership and career development. The goal of the Student Success and Engagement Center is to foster a positive, educational experience by working collaboratively with each student in developing and implementing an individualized plan for success.
The Counselor will provide highly accessible services primarily in the areas of residence life, student activities & clubs, student government, judicial affairs as well as enrollment services, career and academic advancement. The Counselor will provide a variety of highly integrated services and programs to support academic success, career development and personal development yielding a positive college experience, ultimately serving as the student’s partner in a success driven, educational journey from admissions to graduation, and beyond. The Counselor will also work collaboratively with College faculty, staff and appropriate external organizations which can directly enhance the student’s experience.

• Serve as primary advisor and mentor for working caseload of students
• To prepare students for their transition to the college, and integrate new students into the intellectual, cultural, and social life of the College
• Provide academic advisement to each student, specifically through the progression of the initial registration upon acceptance to major/degree selection as it pertains to career interests and pursuits
• Provide career exploration resources and advisement, resulting in a timely career track relative/paralleled to academic pursuits
• Interpret career assessment instruments and facilitate groups, orientations, and workshops.
• Assist in pre-enrollment and orientation activities reinforcing the importance of a collective, integrated college experience geared toward academic and career success
• Coordinate with other Student Services departments to achieve program recruitment and retention goals.
• Any other duty as may be assigned

Experience and/or Skills Required

1. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, interpersonal and administrative skills with the ability to work with a team of diverse professional staff and students.
2. Demonstrated detail orientation, ability to assess needs, plan, and implement new programs. Demonstrated problem-solving, organizational, and cross-area collaboration skills are required. Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications, web development, and knowledge of student database systems are required.
3. Candidate must be flexible as position does require occasional evening and/or weekend hours and may also include travel to other campuses.
